Now that us Whovians have seen the 50th anniversary special either on tv, movie theater, or dvd, I have to say that (for myself) it's probably almost THE BEST episode/movie since it has returned to tv!!! Since the end of the show and now have been re-watching it on dvd, I have thought of a theory and some ideas I'd like to bounce around.
It has been said that "The Moment" was built many years ago as a weapon of some sort and that when it was completed that the interface was able to posess a conscience of its own. Could have the eliete members of the Timelord counsel have built it with some members being the Prydonian class? The Doctor was a member of that class as was seen in the episode "The Deadly Assassin" so maybe his father or other relative with the same genetic genes have been involved since it was able to "Hear his thoughts" over time.
Now- fast forward to the fourth -Tom Baker ( I gave up saying the number of Doctors now that Moffet was able to sneak one in between MaGann and Eccleston afterwards) and the episode "Logopolos" where he sees a mysterious "Watcher" observing him and his companions, and later we all found out that as Nyssa stated... "He was then Doctor all the time" before regenerating into the next one being Peter Davison. Now- could have The Moment, somehow linked to the genetics of the Doctor forseen the danger that the universe was in from the Master and was able to send a projection of his future self to watch from a distance? And when the time came after the Doctor fell from the radio telescope he said to his friends- It's the end...but the moment has been prepaired for." Now to them all, did he mean that THAT moment was prepaired for- or was he partially talking to himself wich he did from time to time that he ment :THE MOMENT" was prepaired for? And with that being said, at the regeneration when he changed into Peter- did "The Moment" save the fourth Doctor and send him away to watch from a distance to see his otherself to be wisked back to the safty of the TARDIS and know that his future was in good hands, just walked away to live as an ordinary "Human" since the Timelord genetics was now in another body and got a job as a museum curator?
When the Time War was raging on, could The Moment- still linked to the Doctor, was able to call him to the city if Arcadia to set everything in motion to where we all know it now? How else could a museum curator know about Gallifrey and see his other self as the Matt Smith Doctor and give hin some information on their planet?
It should be also noted that when Clara was looking at the pictures in the Black Archive and she focused on Susan, right next to that was a picture of Captian Mike Yates of UNIT along side Sara Kingdom. That may have been a blooper since Mike and Sara never met, along with another (you have to be quick to see this) that when the Doctor's other selves was on screens in the war room in Arcadia- there was two versions of Sylvester McCoy- two immages of him with diffrent clothing on.
Well all of this is only a timey- wimey theory of mine but then again..."Who knows eh...WHO KNOWS?"
