The Christmas specials they now make for the series have gotten better over time (no pun intended) and this was by FAR better than the last one, but I just wish S. Moffet would let us Whovians into his brain to see what he has up his sleeve.
As a fan, I'm glad he was able to bring back "The Face" in the opening credits. That had been a staple since Pactrick Troughton to Sylvester McCoy and I missed that. Also, with Matt Smith walking about with a "Stove-pipe hat" in the episode now cements the idea that his Doctor IS as close they have now got to bringing back Patrick's Doctor, - and the way he chuckles when Clara rushes out of the TARDIS to do the "Walk-around" is so much like Willian Hartnell. And now the control room is almost a combination of the Hartnell era mixed with the McGann movie, even though it seems a bit smaller than the previous one. Over all- I LOVE IT!!!
As with the BBC bringing back old enemies from past shows such as the Nestine Contiousness and the Autons, they now brought back the "Great Intelligence." I have never gotten the chance to see any of the episodes of the Pat. Troughton with it in, but I have been able to read the old Target novels and that the G.I. are the ones that controlled the Yeti in the episodes "The Abominable Snowmen" and "The Web of Fear" and the way Moffet was able to make his "snowmen" was a nice way to have children "Hide behind the sofa" again, and of cource they would know that the Doctor would make everything alright. Dose this mean that the G.I. could return and that the Yeti be back as well?
I hope so.
