David Tennant writes a Forward for this book that all of us Whovians feel about our beloved character - Sarah Jane Smith and how he enjoied her time when they fillmed the new series.
Elisabeth - in her own words describes her life as growing up and becoming an actress for the stage theaters in plays such as "Alice Through the Looking Glass," "A Taste of Honey," and others and on the television shows "Coronation Street," and "Z Cars, as well as others.
She tells the stories about how tough it was just to get parts for the stage and tv, and how her agent was able to get her a co-starring role on Doctor Who when Katy Manning was leaving the show, and how it was filming her start on "The Time Warrior" and how Jon Pertwee got on with her.
She also talks about meeting her future husband - Brian Miller in the theater and then him being involved on Doctor Who as well as diffrent characters and being one of the voices of the Daleks later on.
Also, she tells about the times she had with Tom Baker, how they were doing the show, and how she found out that when she was leaving - and after she left the show, that Tom wanted to do the show by himself - but the "Heads that Be" wanted another companion with him since they gave him "The Deadly Assassin" all on his own, and how she bumped into Louise Jameson and told her to have fun with the character she was going to play, but Tom wasn't warm to her for a while because he thought that nobody was going to be able to replace Sarah Jane Smith, and how he refused to be apart of "The Five Doctors."
The book goes on about how John Nathan- Tuener wanted her to return to Doctor Who with Tom Baker's last shows, and how he convinced her to do "K-9 and Company" and later on how she toured around America with Jon Pertwee for the Doctor Who conventions in the late 80s and 90s.
She tells about how she thought Russel T. Davies' s "School Reunion" was just going to be the last time her character was to be on the show, but finds out that he had a "Proper" show for her in the works in "The Sarah Jane Adventures" and she was looking forward to a whole new audience of young and old,- and all this time that she really wasn't a big fan of Science Fiction shows.
The book sadly ends with the epilogue written by her husband and daughter - Brian and Sadie Miller and how thankfull she was of all of her fans all around the world for a character that she was able to play and that still is- loved by millions.
This book tells the stories about being on stage and in front of the cameras and the look behind the scenes of Doctor Who, of all that went on- the fieuds, the laughs and the adventures people had when in America. I HIGHLY recomend this to all fans, young and old.
