In Colin Baker's second (and last) season under the umbrella title "The Trial of a Timelord," The Doctor was forced to attened a hearing on a Gallifreyan starship by a Timelord known as The Valleyard. He then turned it into a trial to convict The Doctor on interfearing with the laws of time and intervention of other worlds - and the end result would be the termination of his life.
It was in episode 13, (The Ultimate Foe) The Master shows up and announces to the court, "There's a little bit of evil in all of us - even you Doctor," and that the Valleyard is an imalgamation (future version) of The Doctor somewhere between his 12th and final regeneration. His "evil" side as you may put it.
Fast forward to the episode "Amy's Choice" where we see a charactor who announces himself in the TARDIS, "If you're a Timelord, let's call me the "Dreamlord." It may have taken him some time to remember and put it to the test, but The Doctor does announce that "There's only one person in the universe that hates me as much as you do."
And since the future is unwritten and constantly changing, The Valleyard may be able to appear diffrent at various times since we (and The Doctor) will not know what his future self may look like.
Near the end of the episode, he shows Amy and Rory some "Pshcic pollen"- from the candle meadows of Karass don Slava - that drifted into the time rotor and heated up, and induced a dream-state for all of them, and proceeds to blows it out the door while in flight. The Doctor continues to say that the Dreamlord - "It was me. The pollen's a mind parasite that feeds on everything dark and gives it a voice and turns it against you."
But as soon as he set the TARDIS to their next destination, he briefly saw the Dreamlord's reflection on the console pannel.
Was it The Valleyard, or was it the pollen? Only time may tell.
