Luke Smith was originally know as the archetype. He was created by the Bane to figure out how to best get all humans under their control. On his birth or activation the first person he sees is Maria and they run & hide and are later found by Sarah Jane...
In the end Sarah Jane takes him in and they become a family and he gets his name Luke. Maria helps him to learn. On his first day of school he tries to make friends with Clyde Langer and they get on real well. Clyde when later discovering the truth vows to help look to fit in and be cool.
